Third of buyers 'decide on new homes in under 30 mins'

Decisive Brits are making decisions about home purchases in less than half an hour.

Up to one-third of home buyers in the UK decide on whether to purchase a property in less than 30 minutes of having viewed it.

Research published by Ocean Finance revealed the surprising statistic; while one in ten take less than 15 minutes to come to a decision.

Overall, one-third of adults - 15.5 million people - revealed they spent less time choosing their new home than the time it takes to watch their favourite TV soaps.

Ian Williams of Ocean Finance commented: "Maybe after waiting several years for the financial crisis to end and the housing market to take off again, most people know exactly what they are looking for."

Perhaps surprisingly, it was Brits in their 20s and early 30s (25 to 34-year-olds) who were shown to be more vigilant when deciding upon a new home, with 41 per cent carrying out multiple viewings before making a decision. This compared to nine per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds and just one in 50 for over-35s.
